Frequently Asked Questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. All conversion happens in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device, ensuring complete privacy.

What is the maximum file size?

The maximum is 2 GB, limited by WebAssembly memory constraints. For files over 500 MB, conversion may use significant browser memory. For very large files, try our server-based video converter.

Why is WebM conversion slower than MP4?

WebM uses the VP9 codec which is more computationally intensive to encode, especially in a browser environment. MP4 with H.264 is significantly faster for in-browser conversion.

What do the quality presets mean?

Quality presets control the CRF (Constant Rate Factor) value used during encoding. High quality (CRF 18) produces the best visual quality with larger files. Medium (CRF 23) balances quality and file size. Low (CRF 28) prioritizes smaller file size with reduced quality.

Can I extract audio from a video?

Yes. Upload a video file and select any audio format (MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, or M4A) from the "Extract Audio" section. The video track will be stripped and only the audio will be converted.

Is this tool really free?

Yes, completely free with no limitations. Since all processing happens in your browser, there are no server costs. No watermarks, no account required, and no rate limits.
