MySQL backup solution for Microsoft Windows
Heavy used databases are becoming mission critical for sites to stay up. When these customers lose there data even if it is a few hours old can be devastating to their site. Very few hosts provide a solution for backing up a database automatically so this MySQLWinBackup tool is perfect if you wish to differentiate your company by providing a unique backup solution on MS Windows flatform.
MySQLWinBackup is a very easy to use, totally free, Microsoft Windows based MySQL backup application. Entire MySQL backup process handles by popular mysqldump application. This windows base tool can be used to dump a database or a collection of databases for backup or transfer to another SQL server (not necessarily a MySQL server). The dump typically contains SQL statements to create the table, populate it, or both. However, this tool can also be used to generate files in CSV, other delimited text, or XML format (user may have to use custom option for other formats).
This MySQLWinBackup tool generates CLI (command line interface) for mysqldump for every backup you running on GUI mode. This will help you to understand how to directly use mysqldump in CLI or create custom batch file to automate MySQL backup process.
MySQLWinBackup tool has built in batch file option to create a batch file for your backup process. You can use this batch file to directly execute MySQL backup process any time or add it to Windows scheduled tasks manager to automate the whole MySQL backup process.
MySQLWinBackup is a fully portable application which allows end users to run from a removable storage device such as USB flash drive, flash card, external hard drive.

I liked your article.
One suggestion:Â I think you mean "lose" not "loose."
Loose is the opposite of tight.
Lose is the opposite of win.
Thanks.

Will this tool work in win server 2008 64bit providing .NET 2.0 is installed? Figured I'd ask before installing the 2.0 framework on my VM. Thanks!

This tool looks to be exactly what I want but I can't login to MySQL with my login details! I'm using localhost, root and my password (same as used for phpMyAdmin) and it doesn't work. Any ideas?

I think the tool has a problem when the database has no password, it also crashes sometimes in Windows 7(x64). Looking for another backup tool I found MySQLBackupFTP (http://mysqlbackupftp.com). It has a free version that does pretty much the same as this tool but it has a friendlier GUI in my opinion.
